John had attempted suicide at age 24 and was dead for about three minutes in an ambulance. During that experience, someone told him to go back as it wasn't his time, to be patient as there was need for him, and not to attempt suicide again as he wouldn't be successful. At age 52, he had a heart attack requiring open-heart surgery. Due to chronic pain from injuries, he wanted to die and questioned whether refusing lifesaving surgery would be considered suicide. Unable to get answers from psychologists or clergy, he decided to undergo surgery to ask his question on the other side. During hypothermic surgery with his body cooled to 90°F and on cardiac bypass for over two hours, John left his body as soon as life support began. He viewed his body from above briefly, then passed through light to meet his mentor/teacher. He experienced pure peace, incredible joy, and unity with everything. He underwent a life review and received visions of future world events, being told he wouldn't be present for major problems ahead. He was kept in a "waiting room" for spirits not crossing over permanently. When his body couldn't be warmed after surgery, he was deciding whether to return - his wife confirmed this timing matched medical difficulties. John was asked to watch mankind for the remainder of his life and report when he dies. He correctly predicted the Dow Jones would hit 6500 when it was above 12000 (it bottomed at 6593).
