During brain tumor surgery for a craneopharyngioma in 1968, Donna experienced an NDE when she almost died on the operating table. She recalls rising out of her body a few feet and seeing a great huge light from above, unsure if it was the surgical light or something else. Her primary focus was on comforting her mother, and she floated through doorways without paying attention to the surgical proceedings. She found her mother with a couple of friends and desperately wanted to reach out and hold her. Though present with them, they had no awareness of her presence. Suddenly she was snapped back into her body, likely due to something happening in the operating room. The experience included seeing herself as a mass of light rather than having a physical form. She gained understanding that she had a purpose yet to be fulfilled and lost all fear of death. Following the NDE, she developed psychic abilities and took on an adult-like role in helping her mother, especially significant since her mother's family was in England. She has undergone three major brain operations for this tumor.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience, divine light, understanding of life purpose, and loss of fear of death align with biblical accounts. The deep concern for comforting her mother reflects biblical values of honoring parents and family bonds. Unbiblical elements: The development of psychic abilities after the experience could be considered problematic from a biblical perspective, as divination and psychic practices are generally discouraged in scripture.
