Gregg S experienced a catastrophic hang gliding accident on September 20, 1975, when thermal winds caused him to lose control and crash into Green Mountain. His left leg was torn away at mid-shin, right leg broke at mid-thigh with bone separation, and his back snapped in two places. Upon impact, he immediately left his body and experienced transformation into pure energy with electric intensities of light, colors, and consciousness far exceeding earthly existence. He encountered two highly evolved beings on Mars who revealed profound truths about incarnation, spiritual growth, and universal laws. They explained that merging spirit with physical matter enables growth for both planes, that thoughts create reality and attract corresponding energies, and that love is the fundamental substance enabling ascension. He then met his soul mate - a radiantly beautiful woman who explained they were two halves of the same circle, created as complementary parts. She demonstrated how soul mates' energies merge to create primary wholeness. He witnessed a planetary birth, traveled to Earth's center in the Milky Way, visited a pristine Eden-like planet showing Earth's original state, and observed Earth's damaged aura from pollution. A massive presence asked if he wished to return to help Earth by sharing what he learned. After initially refusing due to the overwhelming love he experienced, he agreed when shown his soul mate wanted him to return. He re-entered his body after six days, retaining full memory of the experience.
BIBLICAL ANALYSIS: This extensive NDE contains some biblical elements but diverges significantly into New Age and occult territories incompatible with conservative evangelical theology. Positive biblical parallels include emphasis on love as fundamental (1 John 4:8), the concept of spiritual warfare between good and evil, recognition of divine design in creation, and transformation through spiritual encounter. The being's teaching about responsibility and consequences echoes biblical sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7). However, the experience is thoroughly saturated with unbiblical concepts. The reincarnation teaching directly contradicts Hebrews 9:27 about dying once then judgment. The soul mate concept of two halves creating wholeness conflicts with biblical teaching that wholeness comes through Christ alone. The planetary consciousness and evolution concepts, travel to Mars meeting past-life family members, and Eastern mystical elements like chakras and vibrations are completely foreign to scripture. The absence of Christ, salvation by grace, or biblical heaven/hell is glaring. The universal salvation implied and works-based spiritual evolution through multiple lives fundamentally contradicts the gospel. The teaching that humans are pieces of God suggests pantheism rather than biblical theism. While the experience led to positive changes and desire to help others, its theological framework is essentially New Age occultism dressed in spiritual language, making it incompatible with biblical Christianity.
