In November 1971, Geary, a military serviceman, experienced an overdose of prescribed medication. He found himself leaving his body and floating to the ceiling area of the treatment room where medical personnel were working to place a tube down his throat for stomach pumping. From above, he watched the medical team talking and working on his body below. He observed specific details of their procedures and conversations.
Geary then floated over the wall into the hallway outside the door. From above the hallway, he saw a nurse standing directly below him writing on a small tablet. After finishing, she slipped both the tablet and pen into a pocket on the skirt portion of her uniform, located about an arm's length down. As the nurse walked through the door back into the room, Geary began floating back. He saw a flash of light and next became aware of his parents standing over him in a hospital room. The Army had notified them of the overdose, warning they couldn't guarantee he'd be alive when they arrived from Oklahoma.
