Eleven-year-old Erwin suffered a near-fatal traffic accident on March 20, 1972, resulting in a nine-day coma. During the first two minutes of unconsciousness, he experienced floating above his body in a different dimension, observing himself below while hearing and seeing the ambulance approaching from his body's right side. He entered a long dark tunnel with a small light at the end that grew progressively larger and brighter. Throughout his nine-day coma, he could see visitors and medical staff but couldn't communicate despite trying to speak or signal. Upon awakening, he immediately asked his father for a guitar to recreate the heavenly music, leading to playing bass guitar in a band for ten years. A classmate's similar NDE account at age thirteen helped him recognize his own experience. The event completely transformed his religious views from Catholic orthodoxy to a more universal spiritual perspective, eliminated his fear of death, and created lasting challenges with relationships and self-esteem.
