Eloise experienced clinical death during childbirth complicated by tuberculosis on December 15, 1974. Having breathing difficulties, she tried removing her breathing mask until a nurse held her hands down. Looking at the heart monitor, she realized she had stopped breathing. She immediately found herself in a different dimension near the ceiling, looking through what seemed like a "3D glass window" at her body below. She watched doctors, nurses, and others trying to revive her, everything appearing in slow motion while she felt perfectly peaceful. She could see and hear the ambulance approaching from the left side (right side of her body), demonstrating directional awareness while out of body. After initially wondering why she was separated from her body, she floated through a long dark tunnel toward an increasingly bright light. Hands and arms emerged from the tunnel walls trying to grab and pull her back, but she continued floating toward the clear, bright, non-blinding light while hearing the most heavenly music ever played. Though she felt initial fear, this transformed into profound calm, happiness, and complete absence of pain. She received a message that she must return because her life wasn't fulfilled yet. She then floated back through the dark tunnel with hands pulling at her again, briefly awakening on a billiard table in a nearby pub where she cried out in pain. Later she awoke again on the operating table during knee bracing for her broken femur before entering a coma for nine days.
