Edna experienced a near-death event during childbirth complicated by preeclampsia on May 6, 1981. She described intense chest pain followed by a sinking sensation, then found herself floating near the ceiling at clock level, observing three medical staff working on her body below. She entered a blue flume-like tube with bright light at the end, hearing snippets of past conversations during passage. Upon exiting, she was surrounded by beautiful panpipe-like music in what she was told were "The Halls of Music." Many loving people surrounded her, all dressed in white or cream. She went outside to brilliant blue sky and green grass where she encountered a bridge with an invisible barrier preventing crossing. A figure she believed was her grandfather appeared on the other side, telling her "It is not time yet, you still have work to do." Despite wanting desperately to stay in that peaceful, pain-free realm, she was pulled back to her body and the immense pain returned. The experience remains vivid nearly thirty years later.
