On February 15, 2003, David was in his kitchen when he experienced severe chest pain radiating down his left arm. Living alone, he collapsed to the floor sweating and gasping for breath. The pain was so severe he knew he was dying and could feel his life force energy leaving his body. He experienced a separation where he could feel pain in his body while also floating beside it. He distinctly felt the difference between himself and the life energy leaving. He said to himself "If I don't stand up now I will never stand up" and made himself return to his body, feeling a rush of life like a sharp gust of wind filling him. The heart attack lasted two hours before he reached hospital, where he was not expected to survive.
