On May 21, 1991, Dawn was bleeding to death on the road following what appears to be a severe accident related to domestic violence. As people comforted her and a helicopter arrived overhead, she suddenly found herself in a dark, warm, breezy place filled with stars. She encountered beings who looked like film negatives, communicating without speaking through their mouths. Among them, she recognized deceased relatives who she sensed were somehow failing. A debate occurred between these entities and another unseen presence about her fate. Dawn experienced overwhelming knowledge, peace, and joy, feeling that every question she ever had was answered. Despite her three young children needing her, she desperately wanted to remain in that place of total peace and elation. A relative whispered to her and led her back to her body. She awoke from a coma with eight hundred stitches in her face, initially devastated about having to return to life. The experience felt like someone had played an awful trick on her by sending her back, though she later came to understand the invaluable reasons for her return.
