Upon awakening in the intensive care unit 12 hours later, Christy found her entire perspective on death and the afterlife transformed. Despite never being particularly religious or contemplating the afterlife before, she now feels confident that consciousness continues after death and that loved ones are reunited in a peaceful realm.
