On October 28, 2008, Todd died of a massive heart attack while being driven to the hospital. He was dead for over 8 minutes before being revived in the emergency room. The memory of his experience didn't return until nearly two years later, in July 2010.

During his death, Todd observed the emergency scene from outside his body, seeing himself on the gurney with people working on him. He wasn't floating but was "nearby" knowing he wasn't in his body. He saw other people in the room dressed formally - men in tuxedos and women in white sequined gowns that almost glowed. He realized these were angels who were always there. Some angels had people with them in hospital gowns who had either just passed or passed years ago, yet all existed simultaneously as if all time was the same.

Todd saw a white area like a wall of fog around a corner where he shouldn't have been able to see. People were walking into it with their guides, though the guides stayed behind. A beautiful woman with blue eyes was his guide, communicating telepathically that it was okay to go through. Her eyes showed happiness, then sadness and disappointment when it became clear it wasn't his time. Todd felt freedom from all stress and negativity. He chose to return, and saw the bright halogen light above the operating table as he came back.

The experience completely eliminated his fear of death, giving him certainty rather than just belief in an afterlife. Remarkably, Todd, who is gay, found no judgment or hatred based on his sexuality during the experience, which challenged his religious upbringing that taught he would suffer in hell.

--- Biblical Summary ---

Biblical elements: The presence of angelic guides aligns with biblical accounts of angels escorting souls (Luke 16:22). The white fog area could represent the boundary between earthly and heavenly realms. The overwhelming peace and freedom from negativity reflects biblical promises about God's presence. Angels appearing in glorious attire matches biblical descriptions.

Unbiblical elements: The complete absence of any judgment or concern about homosexuality contradicts conservative biblical interpretation of passages like 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. The suggestion that "it wasn't his time" without any call to repentance or life change concerning his sexuality conflicts with traditional evangelical theology about salvation and sanctification.
