In August 2004, approximately five weeks after partial resection of a brain macro adenoma, Terry became severely ill at home, unable to walk. Initially believing it was food poisoning, his wife convinced him to go to the emergency room. During transport, he told the EMT he couldn't breathe as his blood pressure dropped rapidly. His cellular structure, veins, and major organs were breaking down, though he was not officially "coded."

Terry experienced floating in a grey void with incredible peace and the absolute absence of fear. This was interrupted periodically by Nurse Amy and Dr. Lee calling his name. He became mildly aggravated when they called him back. At one point, he heard a nurse say, "She doesn't have a clue" about his wife. Family members came to say goodbye during his 12-14 hour emergency room ordeal. He felt no discomfort, only peace and love.

Beings began communicating with him, asking him to "tell people things." They told him he would receive money (which he did). Messages were given for delivery, including one in broken German. He suddenly realized the rightness of reincarnation and was informed he doesn't "have to come back" unless he wants to. His last words in the void were, "I'm not ready to have these eternal conversations just now," before returning.

Later in ICU, Terry experienced a complete life review where events flashed by at increasing speed. He learned his ego choices weren't evil but just weren't right for his life. He saw the Angel of Death (Azr'l) approaching but it came for the woman in the next room instead. The experience gave him healing abilities, mediumship, stronger intuitive abilities in his therapy practice, and the ability to "scan" people for disease.

--- Biblical Summary ---
Biblical elements: The peace beyond understanding, life review showing moral dimensions of choices, awareness of death's approach, lasting transformation, and enhanced compassion align with biblical accounts. The understanding that death is not to be feared but is part of God's plan has biblical support. The ability to help others through enhanced intuition could be seen as spiritual gifts.

Unbiblical elements: The explicit affirmation of reincarnation directly contradicts Hebrews 9:27 about dying once then judgment. The development of mediumship abilities violates biblical prohibitions against consulting the dead. The naming of the Angel of Death as Azr'l (Islamic, not biblical name), channeling messages from spirits, and the absence of Christ or explicit Christian content are problematic. The statement about not having to return unless he wants to suggests soul choice rather than God's sovereignty.
