In 1998, Tammy was being strangled by her ex-partner in a criminal attack. She remembered his hands around her neck while standing, then slowly sliding down the wall as she lost consciousness. Her ex-partner fled the scene, believing he had killed her.
Suddenly, the attacker was gone and Tammy found herself standing in her own head, aware that she was out of her body looking down at herself, though standing rather than lying prone. Her body lay crumpled on the floor below. In this new state, she wore all white clothes. Looking left toward the front door and right toward the back door (through which her attacker had fled), she tried to get her bearings and understand what she was seeing. An unbelievable feeling of warmth and love enveloped her. She saw the faces of her children and deceased parents scrolling before her in fast-forward, along with all loved ones both living and dead. The feeling was one of extreme love, kindness, calmness, joy, warmth, and peace. She felt completely united with the world and suddenly understood everything about the universe. Images of all important people in her life flashed before her, all of them smiling. Her only concern was for her children, worrying about leaving them behind with no one to care for them. She said or thought "my kids," and this seemed to trigger her return. She suddenly awoke on the floor where she had collapsed from lack of oxygen. The experience lasted an estimated 1-2 minutes. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience, seeing deceased loved ones, the overwhelming sense of divine love and peace, and the life review of important relationships all align with biblical accounts of near-death experiences. The white clothing she perceived herself wearing corresponds to biblical imagery of heavenly garments. Her concern for her children and subsequent return reflects God's purpose for her continued earthly life. Unbiblical elements: The description of suddenly understanding "everything about the universe" suggests a form of universal knowledge that goes beyond biblical revelation. While the experience led her to believe in an afterlife and some form of divine orchestrator, there's no mention of God, Jesus, or explicitly Christian elements. Her post-NDE beliefs describe the soul as "energy returned to space/time," which aligns more with new age concepts than biblical teaching about the soul and eternal destination.
