Chet suffered multiple heart attacks on February 17, 2002, culminating in the "Big One" during catheter lab surgery. He was clinically dead for approximately 40 minutes while the cardiac team worked to revive him. During this time, he observed the resuscitation efforts from about 10 feet above his body in the operating room with its tall ceiling.
