He experienced a profound multi-stage NDE beginning with floating above his body in an ambulance, observing EMTs cutting his clothes and struggling to insert IVs as blood ran down his arm. He could hear them saying "We have a white middle-aged male in arrest" and briefly returned to his body to ask "Am I going to die?" before leaving again when told he wouldn't. From above, he perceived the scene through a transparent membrane while surrounded by darkness.
Looking right, he saw an infinite dark tunnel with a small bright light at the far end and his deceased grandparents (Jack and Sonja) at the entrance. Then a Voice that came from everywhere - inside, around, across all time - asked "ARE YOU FINISHED?" He instantly understood this meant finished living in depressive self-disregard and emotional disdain, recognizing this way of living was incompatible with God's universe. The question was asked matter-of-factly, without judgment, anger, or blame - as casual as passing salt. After feeling he had all eternity to answer, Stacy remembered his wife waiting and chose to return. A year later came divorce and career upheaval, but the experience transformed him.
