Soledad had both lungs full of fluid and could barely breathe when she lost consciousness after an extended period of suffering. Upon losing consciousness, something awakened her and the pain and suffocation disappeared. She became aware of someone approaching from behind on her left side who told her not to be afraid and explained they had come to take her away. This communication seemed to occur emotively or telepathically. Upon hearing this, Soledad felt overwhelming joy and relief at the prospect of leaving. Her next memory is waking to see her mother weeping.
The experience has had a profoundly negative impact on Soledad's relationship with earthly life. She reports never having loved life and has attempted suicide twice since the NDE, driven by a constant desire to "get away from here." She feels she is serving a punishment by being forced to remain on Earth. Through another experience during surgery at age twenty, she escaped into space moving through a gelatin-like medium, returning to her body through her head with feelings of anger, pain, and revulsion. A later experience at thirty-eight gave her the impression that something wonderful was erased from her memory because she is suicidal, and she believes she only remembers a small part to prevent self-harm. Despite finding consolation in faith and believing in God, she counts her days as a prison sentence, longing for the "true and longed for freedom" of death. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The being's message not to be afraid echoes countless biblical angelic encounters.
