Sandra was almost 20 when she and her 17-year-old sister had a car accident after celebrating a cousin's birth. Her sister lost control of the Ford Torino in the rain and it spun, slamming Sandra's side into a telephone pole. Sandra heard her sister calling her name and could hear herself answering "YES, YES I'm okay," but her sister kept calling as if she wasn't responding. Looking up, Sandra found herself hovering above their bodies at roof level. She could see herself knocked out with her head on her chest and realized her sister couldn't hear her because she had no vocal cords outside her body.
