Sally and her friend were riding on the hood of her sister's car to dry off after swimming in the river against their father's orders. She fell off and was dragged at least a quarter mile down a dirt road. During the accident, she suddenly found herself sitting on top of the car looking down at her body trapped underneath, experiencing no pain whatsoever. She watched herself for a while and never saw her body move. The next thing she remembered was being back in her body with horrible pain, with her sister and friend screaming. She awoke on her stomach but had injuries covering her back from neck to knees, filled with rocks. Mysteriously, her stomach had no injuries despite waking face-down. She crawled out from under the low car and spent four days in the hospital having surgery to remove rocks from her back. The experience left her with enhanced color perception and awareness.
