On June 9, 2007, Robert had a syncopal episode in the shower resulting in severe facial trauma when he struck his face between the eyes on a retaining wall. He experienced viewing himself from outside the shower, looking back at his prone body. He then saw an image of an individual in a glowing gown slowly rising upward. The figure had a laser-like silver/metallic button in the center of the chest, arms stretched out to the sides with palms up. As he looked up further, he saw it was himself with a smile on his face, rising peacefully. He then viewed his body from above before waking to see his wife who had heard the accident. It took him five days to process the experience before sharing it with his wife. The image of himself ascending with arms outstretched and smiling left him wondering why he appeared so peaceful and happy, later realizing "who else should it have been."

--- Biblical Summary ---
Biblical elements: The ascending figure with outstretched arms resembles Christ-like imagery or resurrection. The glowing gown and brilliant light are consistent with biblical descriptions of glorified bodies. The peaceful ascension toward heaven aligns with biblical accounts of being taken up. The transformative effect strengthening his faith supports authentic spiritual encounter.

Unbiblical elements: Seeing himself rather than divine beings or deceased relatives is unusual. The metallic button symbol has no biblical significance. No encounter with God, Jesus, angels, or heaven itself occurred. The experience was primarily self-focused rather than God-focused, lacking the typical elements of judgment or divine encounter.
