Young Raven was in a school cafeteria when she choked on a Jolly Rancher candy while racing with a friend. She hit a table edge, couldn't breathe, and watched her mother walk out unaware of the emergency. According to witnesses, she "dropped like a rag doll," her head bounced off the ground, she turned blue, and her heart stopped. Her mother, a licensed nurse, performed the Heimlich maneuver and CPR to revive her. The school principal had refused to call 911, dismissing it as not a "real emergency."
During her clinical death, Raven distinctly felt hands catch her as she fell backward, gently setting her on the ground, though no one was actually there. She then found herself sitting cross-legged on a rising platform in an endless white void with floating television screens showing static. She felt complete ease and normalcy despite knowing it was wrong. She sensed she was ascending to meet someone important (possibly God). A dropping sensation like a roller coaster pulled her back to her body. The experience profoundly affected Raven, who had been terrified of death and had recently converted to Christianity after a vivid vision of Hell. Afterward, she developed abilities to sense when loved ones die, see spirits, auras, and energy.
