Brian was driving home from a tradeshow in April 1989 when another car ran a stop sign and collided with his vehicle. His heart stopped upon impact with the steering wheel. After a "phoofing" sound, he found himself standing outside his body observing his lifeless form in the car. He was greeted by two friends, Lisa and Susan, who had died together in 1983. Lisa showed him a life review displayed on the western horizon like a movie screen, showing his entire life from birth to death. He experienced complete knowledge and understanding of everything. Lisa told him he could go with them or stay, but if he stayed it would be very hard. When Brian said he needed to stay because he didn't have children yet, Lisa informed him his injuries would be a broken sternum, cut finger, and lost teeth. Upon returning to his body, his heart restarted and he regained consciousness. In the ambulance, he had another OBE where he passed through the vehicle wall to identify a rock quarry landmark. All his predicted injuries were confirmed exactly as described.
