On December 26, 2006, Nathan B was clinically dead for nine minutes when his heart stopped. Pronounced dead after six minutes of resuscitation attempts, he was revived only because a trainee nurse was allowed to practice CPR after doctors had given up. During the experience, Nathan had an out-of-body experience where he sat on the bed next to his body watching resuscitation efforts. He was then pulled by his shoulders from behind into darkness like being taken into a dark cave. He roamed in this dark place with flash memories of "other things, not people" for what felt like a very long time - even a lifetime. He called out and screamed but wasn't heard. Upon revival in ICU two days later, he suffered memory loss and developed paranormal experiences and heightened sensitivity. The experience was frightening rather than peaceful.

--- Biblical Summary ---

Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience and consciousness surviving clinical death align with biblical teaching about the soul's immortality. The pulling sensation could represent spiritual forces. The extended time perception in the spiritual realm reflects how eternity differs from earthly time.

Unbiblical elements: The dark cave-like place with no response to calls doesn't match biblical descriptions of either paradise or hell. The frightening isolation without God's presence, judgment, or any redemptive purpose contradicts biblical afterlife accounts. Development of paranormal abilities is concerning from a biblical perspective.
