In July 1990, Nostra J collapsed after donating blood at a Red Cross center in a church basement. The nurse reported she had no pulse, no registering blood pressure and was "jerking" while unconscious. Nostra found herself in another place with lots of wind and noise, floating through the air propelled by wind through a tunnel. She was very calm with no fear, willing to go where the wind took her. She heard someone urgently calling "Nostra, Nostra" - someone in deep trouble needing help. Since they knew her name, she thought it must be a friend. She had to go back to help. She opened her eyes to see a grinning blood technician who had been calling her name from her name tag. The tunnel had ambient light so it wasn't dark. She was nowhere near the end when called back. The experience made her a kinder, more empathetic person who loves more deeply with less stress.
