On March 29, 1979, Nelson B drank 30+ cups of coffee on empty stomach from 7am-7pm. While driving home, his esophagus ruptured, dumping coffee into chest cavity. His lungs collapsed, mitral valve pushed backward, and heart stopped. Nelson was hovering about 30 feet in the air when two men in baseball uniforms pulled over, removed him from car, and gave CPR while driving to hospital. His perspective remained 30 feet above, then one or two floors above his body looking down on emergency room staff trying to resuscitate him. He recalls all doctor instructions, hair colors of nurses, names given instructions. They used paddles before discovering coffee in chest, made two incisions with tubes draining coffee onto floor. When paddles restarted his heart, his recollection ends. Nelson later learned about a coworker who committed suicide after reading about NDEs.
