Miguel, a Colombian Air Force armaments specialist, was preparing explosive alarms on December 31, 1997, when he accidentally used a metal knife instead of a wooden stick to mix potassium chlorate and TNT. The detonation drove the knife through his stomach, with the point exiting his right side. During seventeen days of coma with 1.5% survival probability, he had an extensive apocalyptic vision.
He entered a black tunnel, saw bright light, and found himself on a gurney observing medical procedures. He saw a comet approaching Earth as the sign of the end, advanced spacecraft attempting to destroy it, persecution of Christians, and various apocalyptic events including drought, floods, chemical weapons, and the mark of the beast system. The vision included protective angels surrounding praying Christians, a woman giving birth in a hidden desert oasis (protected by God's blindness on pursuers), and ultimately Christ's return when all weapons failed against the comet. The earth was consumed by fire, believers rose in white robes toward a cloud, while non-believers were swallowed by the earth. Many supposed Christians who had stopped praying and compromised were lost. The saved crossed rivers on foot to reach a paradise island with perfect abundance. After being told by Gabriel and hearing Jesus' authoritative voice that he must return, Miguel experienced miraculous healings in the hospital, including regeneration of damaged organs.
