In September 1999, Michelle was driving to work when her truck suddenly lifted, turned sideways, and slammed down, sliding and flipping multiple times. A witness described it as if "an invisible kid" was playing with a toy. Her vision faded to black like in old movies, all sound stopped, and she lost all bodily feeling. In the darkness, she was not in a body but was AWARE - observing and thinking. She thought "Huh, that's it huh" and experienced only momentary fear before fading back into her body full of pain.
She suffered fluid buildup in the brain and a broken neck. After extensive rehabilitation, she learned to walk again. EMS employees later confirmed they "saw her drift and fade" twice while trapped in the wreck, frantically working as they thought she would die. Unusually, Michelle reports that within 24 hours after the accident, she had a visitation by an angel that comforted her but also left her feeling hurt and unfairly abused. The experience solidified her belief that God did not have her best interest at heart. She became resentful, distrustful of others except her husband and mother, and more isolated. She describes the experience as taking more than it gave, stating "It took from me more than it gave - just as life does no matter how kind and loving in intent." --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The awareness during clinical death aligns with the soul's immortality.
