Benilda experienced eclampsia during childbirth in September 1976 with dangerously high blood pressure (200/122). After difficult labor and delivery of her son, she was moved to recovery where her vision turned yellow, then gray, then black. She felt herself lifting out of her still body and found herself in velvet blackness. She saw a dim light from above that grew brighter, feeling the presence of a powerful being with happiness and contentment. She began walking toward the light but realized she had not seen her newborn baby and needed to return for him. She woke up gasping with her sister crying, saying she was dead. After the experience, she developed abilities to see future events through vivid dreams, which she finds both wonderful and scary. One of her children has similar abilities.
