At age nine in March 1976, Michael was at a public school swimming pool when he nearly drowned. Exhausted from swimming lessons, he jumped from the diving board and his friend Alfred accidentally jumped on top of him, causing disorientation. Michael sank, gulped water, and passed out seeing his limbs suspended in blue murk. Immediately upon losing consciousness, he found himself suspended above the empty pool's tiled floor, arms and legs extended. His life review began like watching a fast-forward film - seeing everything from going to the bathroom to climbing trees, all comprehended despite the rapid speed.
Without traveling through tunnels, it was as if a veil was pulled off and he was suddenly in the middle of the sky with no body visible below him. The sky bent around him like a globe. He saw a large golden orb suspended in the blue sky, close enough to touch, with its surface undulating like the sea. Initially thinking it was the sun, he said "I am so sorry" and was immediately corrected - this orb was not a thing but a personality. It was beautiful to look at and be with, and he didn't want to leave its presence. Moments later, he was vomiting water as a teenage boy gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The experience led to psychic abilities in childhood (answering the phone before it rang, knowing who was calling) which disturbed his mother and eventually stopped.
