Four-year-old Melissa experienced an NDE in February 1971 during emergency surgery for a perforated appendix when she died on the operating table. After fighting the ether mask, she found herself floating by the ceiling, amazed that she could fly. She observed mint green tiles with black border, saw a clock, and watched her own surgery from above, seeing herself opened up with blood around her.
