Mary M experienced an NDE on December 31, 1980, after giving birth to her first son while suffering from toxemia. When orderlies tried to help her up, she collapsed with no blood pressure or pulse. She immediately left her body and floated to the ceiling, observing the medical staff striking her chest while finding the situation hilarious. She thought "I must be dead, I am still thinking, I am laughing without a body, I am still here!" She then entered a black void before being pulled into the brightest, most beautiful, loving light where words cannot describe the love she felt. She begged to stay forever but was told by presences in the light that she could not stay because her child needed her. Despite arguing that her mother and the father would care for him, they insisted "He needs you!"
