Mary J experienced an NDE on June 3, 2008, following respiratory distress from a narcotic overdose after surgery. Her oxygen level dropped to 34, near death. While medical staff performed chest compressions, she found herself in a tunnel of clouds going round and round with a brilliant bright light at the top, feeling peace and joy she had never experienced before. Her deceased brother Billy, who had died in 1990, appeared dressed in white, looking as he did in his mid-twenties. He smiled, took her hands, and they floated up toward the light together. Three times her granddaughters' heads appeared in the tunnel saying "Nana, don't go - we need you" with distorted voices. After the third plea, Billy let go of her hands and said "You have to go back, it's not your time." He guided her to where the granddaughters were, who pulled her out with a sucking sensation. She awoke to her husband crying and medical staff working on her.
