Barbara was in a severe car accident on July 20, 1979, brought to the emergency room DOA (Dead On Arrival) with no pulse. The emergency team worked extensively to revive her with no success and were ready to quit when the head surgeon insisted they continue. She had a possible out-of-body experience seeing herself being wheeled down the hospital corridor from above, looking down at the back of her head. She was comatose for two days and in intensive care for eleven days with extensive injuries including collapsed lung, crushed ribs, crushed pelvis and spleen, compound fractures, and brain swelling. She was given a 10% chance of survival but recovered after two months hospitalization and multiple surgeries. She is no longer afraid of death and believes she has become more psychic.

--- Biblical Summary ---
Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience viewing her body from above aligns with biblical accounts of the spirit separating from the physical body. The surgeon's insistence on continuing resuscitation could be seen as divinely inspired intervention.

Unbiblical elements: The development of psychic abilities after the experience could be concerning from a biblical perspective, though the narrative doesn't elaborate on the nature of these abilities.
