Frederick experienced an NDE in January 1984 during his third surgery in nine months following a tractor accident. Something went terribly wrong during the operation - he recalls doctors and nurses becoming panicky and someone calling for a crash cart. He felt no pain as he floated out of his body, flipped onto his stomach, and watched the medical team work on him. He then noticed a rotating tunnel-like hole in the wall with beautiful blue and white light offering profound peace. Following the white light down the blue crystal tunnel, he entered a peaceful green valley surrounded by trees, with morning dew and fog still present. The vegetation was lush and the air had an angelic, dream-like quality that was effortless to breathe. His deceased grandfather met him wearing a glowing white robe, as were many other people who were talking to others in street clothes or spirit-like cloaking. His grandfather told him he could not stay, that this was a preview of what was to come, that he loved him very much, and his time was up. Frederick was then led back through the tunnel by the light and re-entered his body in the operating room. He awoke in a hospital room full of medical staff, parents, and a chaplain.
