Frank experienced an NDE on June 5, 2009, after a drug reaction caused him to stop breathing. He was placed on a ventilator in an ambulance and taken to the ICU. During this crisis, Frank found himself above his body, watching as he was put in the ambulance. He then arrived at a place with a golden yellow sky and a gate to his left, feeling complete peace, no pain, and awareness that this was where he wanted to be - just outside the gates of Heaven. Though surrounded by people he couldn't make out clearly, his daughter who had died on August 31, 1998, came to him, hugged him, and told him she loved him but it wasn't his time. Despite his protests and insistence on staying, she said he would be there soon enough but had to go back. His grandmother then appeared, called him by his nickname Dennis, and told him his grandchildren needed him, specifically mentioning he would have two granddaughters (which later came true - he only had two grandsons at the time). Unable to argue with his grandmother, he agreed to return. He spent 16 days in the hospital and reported seeing an angel he called "Bob" standing next to him. The experience left him with no fear of death and a deep appreciation for his role as grandfather.
