Esteban was admitted to a Katy, Texas hospital with ventricular tachycardia. At approximately 3:45 a.m., his blood pressure began dropping dangerously (last reading 60/40) and he went into cardiac arrest. He found himself standing in a field with the greenest grass he had ever seen, under the bluest sky with the whitest clouds. The sun was shining brightly though he didn't see it directly, and he could feel wind against his skin. Everything was incredibly vivid and peaceful. He felt serene and at peace, exclaiming "Oh wow!" He then felt his body being pulled to the right and awoke to find medical staff placing a wooden board under him to prepare for defibrillation. However, his heart rate had returned to normal on its own. When he asked the nurse why all the doctors were in his room, she confirmed he had gone into cardiac arrest and they had lost him. When he shared his experience, she said he must have gone to the other side.
