Eric was kidnapped, drugged, and tortured for many hours, experiencing clinical death with cessation of heart function. He remained conscious through the entire agonizing process until his heart stopped. He then experienced "letting go" as if he had been clinging to his body his whole life. He spiraled outward from Earth with growing awareness and understanding. During a life review without judgment, he remembered and released everything and everyone he loved, finding the most painful moments were the ones he treasured most. He was met by a spirit guide and brought into God's presence - experiencing sight without eyes, voices without words, and heaven as existing within incomprehensible love. God showed him the Plan, including Earth with souls rising to God while others drifted into darkness (not from competing force, just getting lost). He was given a glimpse of what would come when all returned to God. God then told him he had work to do and gave him a choice to return. Despite the unpleasantness, he surrendered his will and returned with a smack to reality and pain.
