Diane was at a beach in August 1978 with her sister, enjoying warm water and three-foot waves. While body surfing, she began tumbling underwater and despite repeated attempts, could not right herself. During this life-threatening drowning incident, she experienced a classic out-of-body experience, suddenly watching herself roll from an external perspective. She found herself in a large expanse of black void, experiencing incredible peace and a lack of distress about her situation. Her life flashed before her in this dark space. She was then somehow righted upwards and returned to her body. The experience left her with lasting effects including visits from her deceased father and enhanced psychic awareness. She reports being able to feel and see things before they happen, and has experienced multiple visits from deceased individuals.
