While working in Alberta, Canada, Diane became ill after drinking contaminated soda. After a week in local hospital, she was transferred to Edmonton with blood in her intestines. Given powerful medication with severe side effects, she was hallucinating and felt she would die. One evening, she took what felt like her last breath and stopped breathing, feeling no need for air. She felt someone give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation three times while hearing metal furniture on wheels in the corridor. She then floated horizontally near the ceiling, seeing a large tunnel (10 feet diameter) very near with extremely bright light behind a thin veil. She saw 5-6 people in white silhouettes around her. When she came to, these same 5-6 people were the actual doctors and nurses at her bedside. She had tubes everywhere and was given morphine before being sent to intensive care. She learned she had come very close to dying. The experience remains vivid after 27 years.
