On a Sunday morning, DeeRay suddenly felt strange while using the bathroom and told his wife he felt weird. She immediately recognized he was having a heart attack and sat him down. He began floating up, his mind racing as he thought of his deceased mother and looked for the Angel of Death. While floating, he simultaneously wondered if this was oxygen deprivation like he'd seen on the Learning Channel. With eyes closed, thinking he was talking to his wife, a lady handed him a washcloth saying "Here, this will make you feel better." He thought his wife was having hot flashes. When his wife and brother-in-law entered, he was talking and rubbing his face, but no one else was there. Pain then shot through his jaw like a hot knife. He was airlifted to St. Johns in Tulsa, having what they called "the widow maker" heart attack. During the experience, he saw little lights like fireflies swirling around, felt incredible peace and joy, and was ready to fight if the Angel of Death appeared. The experience left him less worried about things he cannot change.
