While recovering from leg surgery (ACL repair, tibial plateau repair, fasciotomy) at UCLA Medical Center, Connie fainted when nurses helped her sit up for the first time. She found herself in a field of brightly colored flowers with a river flowing beyond them, enveloped in bright yellowish light. A huge crowd of beings with no discernible features stood across the river, emanating welcome and beckoning her to join them. She recognized her grandmother (deceased 10 years) among them and wondered about her father (deceased when she was 11). Though no words were spoken, she felt sensations of joy and welcome. She saw the brightest colors ever experienced and heard humming like murmuring voices. She awoke to nurses pulling her back to sitting position, who said she had simply fainted for a few seconds. Years later, she had a vivid dream conversation with her deceased father where he told her "I always knew that you loved me" and promised she would see him again. She has since had three out-of-body floating experiences.
