In 1956, young Beth nearly drowned at a Brownie swimming party when a friend accidentally hit her in the face with a beach ball. After going under three times, she felt warm comfort and saw what appeared to be sunlight on water's surface. Suddenly water vanished and she moved toward a figure. Her life flashed before her, including infant memories (ivy wallpaper, hair washing, tonsillectomy, first dog dying) with only happy feelings. The man had a "funny hat" and beautiful face, smiled and communicated it wasn't time yet. She felt comforted near him. After unspoken communication, she was jolted back by chest pressure, floating at treetop level above the pool scene.
