At age 5, Bobbie drowned in a Danube River tributary in Hungary. Initially experiencing excruciating pain as water entered her lungs, she then felt she could breathe underwater, thinking she'd become a mermaid. Her body undulated with dolphin-like movements. She kept her eyes open, wanting to see where the beckoning light led. She accelerated rapidly, her body unable to keep up, feeling blissfully free and ecstatic. Through a tunnel toward bright light, she became part of that Light, knowing she was in God's presence without seeing anyone. She felt unprecedented warmth and love, total safety, limitless freedom. She was part of the Universe, sun, and God - deliriously happy. Though formless, she maintained individual identity while being part of everything. Voices called her name; her mother cried telling her to breathe. Despite begging to stay, she had to return. The return brought excruciating pain as people hit her back. The anger from being "reborn" persists in cell memory during massages. Post-NDE, she meditated in dark spaces, became obsessed with infinity, challenged priests with theological questions, and felt partly responsible for the Hungarian Revolution through her manifested desires.
