Betty J experienced two separate NDEs. First in 1951 at age 10: A window slammed on her head, jamming a paintbrush into her mouth's roof. She bled profusely and entered a tunnel at incredible speed toward a bright light. She tried to slow down by clawing at the floor upon return. Second in 1959 at age 18: Three weeks after giving birth, she was in a car crash, thrown through the windshield with her arm nearly severed (72 stitches). She floated beneath a tree, observing the scene from above. She saw herself and her husband lying in the driveway, watched a woman in curlers run from her house, and noted the ambulance models (Ford and Cadillac). She was amazed at having form, turning her hand over repeatedly, feeling rain falling on her. Hospital staff couldn't believe she knew the ambulance models. Both experiences involved out-of-body states with verified observations.
