Phillip was crossing a four-lane highway when hit by a high-speed car. He heard screeching tires, felt a heavy bump, spun through the air, and slid to a stop with his head on the curb. His vision narrowed until he blacked out. Suddenly he was high in the sky with a panoramic view of the area, seeing his body in the street and people getting out of cars. He watched the ambulance arrive and paramedics immediately cut off his winter jacket and shirts. They shocked him twice with a defibrillator before loading him on a gurney. When the ambulance doors closed, he woke up inside, unable to move, hear or speak. He remained unconscious for two weeks with serious injuries. Paramedics reported no pulse or respiration on arrival.
