In October 1962, Ollie had a severe kidney infection with 105-degree fever and was refused medical care due to lack of insurance. While at home on the sofa, she went to the bathroom and died on the toilet seat. She found herself at ceiling height looking down at her body, thinking how funny it would be for them to find her on the commode, feeling happy to be out of her painful body. As she was ascending, her five-year-old daughter laughed outside the bathroom window. This stopped her ascension as she realized there was no one in her family suitable to raise her children. She asked God to let her go back to raise them, and believing He was allowing it, she looked down at her body with dread but pulled herself back into it with great difficulty and exhaustion. The family was moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and she had to lie on the floor until her husband came home and made her a bed in the car. She reports having at least four other times when doctors said God saved her life when they could not.
