Following his best friend's suicide, Mr. W was overwhelmed with guilt and spent two days in prayer before taking an entire bottle of Coumadin (blood thinner). After ingesting the pills, he lay in bed and within 30 minutes became drowsy and cold. He found himself unable to move his body, experiencing complete paralysis while remaining conscious. Suddenly he was outside his body, observing it from beside the bed as a lifeless, pale tool. His room appeared illuminated despite being pitch black, and he could hear distant traffic and conversations upstairs with extraordinary clarity. He felt liberated from physical limitations with accelerated, clear thinking. A warm light appeared and grew intensely bright, filling him with unprecedented love, understanding, and acceptance. He understood this was his true home and that earthly life was temporary. He knew the love awaited only those who lived with kindness and compassion. Just before entering the light, he was suddenly back in his body in intense pain, vomiting blood. His father found him and called 911. The experience transformed him completely, eliminating his fear of death while making clear that suicide would prevent him from experiencing that love again.
