Lynne S, a nurse, experienced an NDE during childbirth complications in December 1970. After spinal anesthesia and difficult labor, her blood pressure dropped to 70/30. Despite feeling wonderful and wanting to close the IV line, she left her body, floating face down and observing her body with complete detachment. She watched as doctors ran up shouting "What the hell happened? She was fine a few minutes ago! Get the cart!" She found the resuscitation boring, having participated in many codes herself. She noticed walls fading into blackness with stars above and a large window suggesting she could visit home, but chose not to due to marital problems. Moving through an ethereal tunnel toward light, she encountered two flustered beings who communicated telepathically that it wasn't her time, she had years to live and work to do. They warned she'd have to "do this all over again" if she came forward now. When asked "Who will take care of the baby?" she saw her injured son in the nursery with his misshapen head, fighting to return like swimming backwards. Upon return, her body felt cold, damp, and painful, initially making her angry at being resuscitated.
