Sixteen-year-old Traci was thrown from the back seat of a VW bug through its windshield during a head-on collision at approximately 40 mph. She was unconscious for several hours from severe head trauma. Her experience began with blackness, then white light, humming sounds, and a rushing wind-like sensation through what she describes as a tunnel, moving much faster than expected. She then entered total darkness - not visual darkness but a void of possibility, complete wholeness where there was no need to see. She understood all was well and this reality was far more real, beautiful, and loving than the material world. She became aware of people below in extreme turmoil around her body but felt no attachment, even to her friends in the car. She understood she had a choice to continue on or return, already knowing on a deep level why she should return without needing explanation. The experience occurred around the time she was being placed in the ambulance, and she slowly began associating with her body again.
