Mark experienced a profound NDE in 1977 when a lifeguard deliberately drowned him at a motel pool. After being held underwater until his body filled with water, he sank to the bottom where he remained for over five minutes. Angels gathered around him, then lifted him 20-30 feet above the pool where he watched his friend dive in to save him. Seven angels carried him to a cloud gathering with Romanesque pillars and an archway. Three angels debated his fate while a fourth kept him company. He saw large Pure Love Orbs containing human souls and viewed Earth as brown and alive with all souls. He glimpsed Heaven with gold wrought iron fencing and pearly gates. When he resisted returning, the angels sought and received permission from above to show him his Book of Life - a massive four-foot thick book revealing his future, including inventions he would create. His life flashed before him during drowning, then his future was revealed through rapidly flipping scenes. After being convinced to return, adults rescued and revived him by pumping pink fluid from his stomach.
