In May 1995, Linda was in post-operative recovery after gallbladder surgery when she began bleeding internally, unknown to nursing staff. Her body was shutting down after losing over four pints of blood. She suddenly became conscious of looking down at herself from the corner of the ceiling. She remembers thinking she didn't look very well, then realizing she was dying. She wasn't scared, just angry that she wouldn't see her daughter grow up.
She observed an old lady in the bed next to her who screamed out to the nurses to come check on Linda as she was moaning loudly. The first nurse tried but couldn't get a vein, which Linda found strange since she has perfect veins for giving blood. The nurse called the Matron, who also couldn't get a vein. They then checked the bag attached to her and found it full of blood. The Matron began screaming orders to get the surgeon. He rushed in and Linda was propelled down the corridor very fast, with her consciousness floating along at the same pace above them. Then everything went black. Later she was told she was very lucky. When she asked to see the old lady to thank her, she was told she had been in the room by herself. Linda is certain this happened and often questions whether the old lady was an angel. The experience left her believing in angels and life after death.
